I'd be very surprised if SAW were involved. None of the tracks sound anything like them to me. Iconic sounds like a wannabe SAW retro sound but very watered down. I'm sure Ellis will find a market but i'm afraid i won't be buying.

I didn't find his myspace site this afternoon after I posted the "news".

I totally agree with Mobius and beat. Mobius wrote: "a mediocre song. Again like with so many of todays songs the focus is on sound rather than song.". I confirm, I agree with him!  Wink

Also, I don't like these songs at all. They're too focused on the electronic sound than on the song. For me it's a very poor production.

I think, but it's only my personal opinion, they can't write music like this, I don't like it at all.  Undecided

When they produced THE SHEILAS in a second I recognised their sound, I liked a lot the new song. But all these tracks don't remind me the Stock, Aitken & Waterman "sound" at all! Cry

Bye bye.

Stock Aitken Waterman

Or should I say Stock Aitken Hammond.

I followed how SAW grew in the late eighties. For me all started with Rick Astley, and then Kylie together with Donna Summar.
1989 was a magic year, but it all disappeared after the summer of 1990.

SAW lead the development of music. And be ahead in the 90:s the direction went from pure eurodisco to more clubby sound.

But it was the pure eurodisco I want to remember SAW for. I can se patterns in why I think SAW:s success went to nothing but a shadow of the 80:s.
When Pete Hammond left PWL, SAW died in a way. We have a few hits afterwards, but after Hammond left the building nothing of music ever came close to the magic hits of the late 80:s.

I read on Mike Stock forum that he never want to do what he did in the 80:s again. Therefore SAW is over.

The upside is that Pete Hammonds retromixes has been that successfull.

After collecting records after record an analysing what made the forumala that I love, Pete Hammond seem to be the most important part of that formula. The sound, the intros he made, is the ones I love the most.
And he have made gold of songs other than SAW-songs.

It is sad to face the fact that SAW is dead. But long live Pete Hammond.

The hunger after more and new songs with the magical sound is still big.

Nowadays I realize that we have to look in the past for that. But thanks to many people 2009 has been a wonderful year. And there is still more to come.

I don´t think we ever will here a new real hit from Stock Aitken Hammond. But we can still live with the memories....

Although I'm not 100% sold on Ellis' vocal style - I really like the tracks on his MySpace page & regardless of who produced them, would definately buy!  Wink

Nice & dramatic!

Grin

Absolutely love 'Lose Control' ...

To me 'Iconic' simply sounds like a track polished with a Pete Hammond retro style remix!

Has anyone tried contacting Ellis to ask who was involved in the production of 'Beautiful Dangerous People'? (I can't remember my MySpace password & am at work so won't be able to access today!!)

I'm liking the Ellis tracks.  I'm no muso but, to me, there are elements in there of well-known (retro?) artists.

Beautiful Dangerous People - Pet Shop Boys
Iconic - Paul Lekakis/Dead or Alive
Cilla Black's TV - Take That/60's British Invasion
Lose Control - BWO
Game Over - Elton John
Stop! - Erasure  Wink
Out of The Blue  - Bronski Beat/Human League/New Order

I like Princess, Dead or Alive, Kylie and Boy Krazy.  The music of those artists is different, so if the above tracks were all SAW related, maybe it shouldn't be that surprising.

I can't wait to find out more about this possible SAW collaboration!!

Update: totally gutted when I say this thread was moved to 'Outside'.  Oh well, still happy with the iTunes releases!  Smiley

Oh, it has elements of SAW, especially the bridge with the chord changes.

Hi, I think Mike Stock was the most important part of the "SAW" sound for the songs.

I don't agree with you, the 80s are over, but Mike Stock produced wonderful songs such as Scooch with "More Than I Needed To Know", Robson & Jerome and a lot of artist after the 80s as you and all we know and I love this sound and his productions. I love Girls@Play production for example, and The Sheilas too. "Airhead" was a perfect Mike Stock production, a gem for me.

If this is a S.A.W. production it's the first one I don't like at all.

And also Pete Waterman with "Steps" and then "Pop" didn't write songs like we can hear on myspace Ellis page, I think. That's my personal point of view.

I think it could be possible we can hear a new hit from S.A.W. but I think they should produce young and talented singers people already know for partecipating in program such as X-Factor I think. In Italy there's X-Factor too, I don't like the sound of the songs they promote, they're too much rock for me, but all the singers at top of X-Factor became famous and sold a lot of records in all Italy.

Best regards.
Paul.

Ps: forgive for my english mistakes.

"Hi Pete,
No, I know nothing about this stuff. It feels like someone trying to stir up a bit of media interest. I don't know if using our name really will help him, but I suppose its worth a try!
Kind regards,
Mike"

From the man himself. Oh well.

but I'll never connect anymore, he does not deserve it, that's my point of view. Tongue

I'm really, really happy it's a not a Stock, Aitken & Waterman production, it couldn't be possible, I can't believe if they say it was them, I'm happy now!

Best regards.
